CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that is used by firemen, policemen, military, professional athletes, weekend warriors, kids, students, grandparents, soccer moms, stay at home moms and everyone in between. It is broad, general and inclusive fitness. CrossFit is universal and scalable to everyone and anyone. A grandma can do the same workout as a fireman just at a scaled level. CrossFit scales loads and intensity.
CrossFit works to improve 10 general physical skills:
cardiovascular endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed,
coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. It is designed to bring people to
a maximum fitness level in minimal time. We pull, push, jump, row, run, climb,
lift, we play games like dodgeball and hooverball, we discuss nutrition, we
work hard all while having fun.
CrossFit workouts are generally done in groups of 2 – 14 people
in 1 hour sessions run by certified CrossFit trainers to ensure safety. We
teach form and technique, we make sure it is done consistently and then we add
intensity. We generally warm up and stretch out as a group for the first 20
minutes. Then we will have a strength component for 10 or 15 minutes and then a
WOD (workout of the day). The WODs can run anywhere from 5 minutes up to 30
minutes depending on what we’re doing that day. The workouts are never exactly
the same each day. You can do one work out one day and not do the same workout
for another month or longer. This keeps it fun and challenging.
You will build friendships at CrossFit 1013 like no other gym.
This is because everyone that comes to work will be challenged in their own
way. Everyone cheers everyone on regardless of skill level. Not because they’re
obligated but because they’re excited for one another’s accomplishments.
